Philosophical Orientation
The philosophical orientation of the African American Wholistic Wellness Hub is unapologetically, unashamedly and openly African-centered, rooted in the understanding that African American people are carriers of distinct epistemologies, cosmologies, and communal traditions that shape identity, consciousness, resistance, and wellness.
This orientation is anchored in Skh: The Science of Being, Spiritness, and culture as restorative technology — situating wellness within the interconnecting rings of personhood, familyhood, and neighborhood. It understands African American people not as broken versions of a Western ideal, but as carriers of distinct epistemologies, cosmologies, and communal traditions that shape identity, consciousness, resistance, and wellness.
The Hub's philosophical architecture affirms that wellness is understood not as the absence of pathology but as affirmation — honoring African episteme and communal ontology as the organizing foundation of restorative healing, where cultural congruence and the restoration of personhood, familyhood, and neighborhood replace systems that have historically failed African American communities.
