Languaging

In the African tradition, the name of a thing or person symbolizes and represents its nature or core essence. The African American Wholistic Wellness Hub embodies this principle through its intentional and culturally congruent languaging across every dimension of its identity and operations.

The Hub's praxis is named Alasal Tarey — "the process through which one comes to know and understand one's origin, essence and unfolding as a human being in order to serve humanity." Its portals, staff, and those served are named accordingly — Nganga ná Dibuti, Ndamu ye Diaku, Zola Ngolo, and Kizungu kia Kanda. Clients are received not as clients but as Wa Bakula — the child of my Ancestors.

This languaging is intentional and transformative — rooted in the African understanding that to name a thing correctly is to honor its nature, its essence, and its place within the human family.
